Hike smart. Come home.

HikeRuleOne is a safety companion for hikers. Log your plan before you leave, check in along the way, and give your people everything they need if you don't come back on time.

How it works

1. Log your plan

Before heading out, create a hike plan with your start and end trailheads, planned duration, and an optional GPX route file. A secret link is generated automatically.

2. Share with someone you trust

Send the link to a friend or family member — or print the QR card and leave it on your dashboard. If you don't return on time, that's all they need to find you.

3. Check in along the way

Tap "I'm starting" when you set off, check in periodically on the trail, and tap "I'm back" when you're safe. Each check-in logs your GPS location.

Built for the backcountry

GPX route upload

Attach your GPX file and your planned route appears on a map — visible to anyone checking on you, no account needed.

Automatic overdue alerts

If you don't check back in by your expected return time, your emergency contacts are emailed automatically with your route and last known location.

Printable QR card

Print a card with a QR code and leave it on your dashboard. Anyone who finds your car can scan it to see your hike details and emergency contacts.

No account needed for contacts

The people checking on you don't need an account. The link works for anyone — just open it in any browser.
